This Sunday will see the inaugural Anglesey Sandman triathlon take place in Newborough on the island of Anglesey, North Wales.

The Sandman is a brand new trail triathlon for 2011 and is the second in the series that started with the extremely successful Snowdonia Slateman in May.

The race venue will be at Newborough Forest, with the start and finish set in an exclusive area within the stunning 700 hectare woodland adjacent to Llanddwyn Beach on Anglesey.

Multi-sport events company Always Aim High Events last week announced that Welsh rugby legend Jonathan Davies as the event ambassador. Davies said:

"It's always great to see new sporting ventures happening here in Wales, and especially North Wales, which has a fantastic landscape for challenging events. The Anglesey Sandman and Snowdonia Slateman events will open-up the North Wales region to new participants and visitors from outside of Wales, meaning that the events remain sustainable and deliver a positive economic impact upon the area.”

Online registration for the 2011 Anglesey Sandman closes at midnight on Tuesday 13th September, however interested participants can still enter by sending a paper entry form in the post or by entering on the morning of the race at race registration. All details are available via the event website, by clicking through on the ‘Register Now’button.
