British Triathlon has been nominated for Governing Body of the Year at the 2013 UK Coaching Awards, following the success of British athletes at European and world level.

The other two nominations are British Cycling and English, Scottish and Welsh Rugby Unions. The winner will be announced at the UK Coaching Awards evening on 3 December.

Meanwhile, Melissa Reid – 2013 World Champion paratriathlete in the Tri6b category – has also been nominated for Young Coach of the Year.

2013 has been a stellar year for British triathletes and paratriathletes: Non Stanford won WTS gold in London while Jonathan Brownlee won silver in the men's race, losing out to Spain's Javier Gomez in a thrilling dash for the line.

Britain's age-group team won 12 golds in the sprint finals and eight golds in the standard-distance finals, and the paratriathlon team won six gold medals in the Paratriathlon World Championships.

Last year British Triathlon won 'Coaching Chain of the Year' in recognition of the coaches who helped Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee on their way to Olympic success in London.
