Great Britain dominated the World Duathlon Championships in Ottawa, Canada last weekend, with a stunning 19 gold medals between the GB team's junior, U23 and age-group athletes, including 17 for the age-group team.

Richard Horton, a Loughborough University student and winner of the junior gold last year, won the U23 men's elite race with a time of 53:33mins, while Georgina Schwiening took gold in the women's junior elite race with a time of 1:02:32. Calum Johnson also claimed a bronze in the men’s junior race with a time of 54:12mins.

Horton said post-race: “It was an awesome experience with the GB team here in Ottawa. I wanted to make the race hard from the off and it became a real war of attrition played out at super fast speeds. I’m so proud to be part of a four medal-winning elite GB team and to be heading home a world champion once more."

In addition to the 17 golds taken by the British age-group team, there were also 12 silvers and 12 bronze medals: Gill Fullen was the fastest overall in the women’s standard-distance event whilst Mathilde Pauls and Geoffrey Beetham were the fastest overall in the sprint event. Meanwhile, David Peck won gold in the standard-distance event in the 80-84 age-group.

Adrien Howden (GB’s sole representative in the Paraduathlon events) took silver in the men's paraduathlon TRI-5 with a time of 1:17:26.
