British Triathlon Inter Regional Championships Confirmed

The 2012 British Triathlon Inter Regional Championships have now been confirmed to take place at Hetton Lyons Country Park in Tyne and Wear for the second successive year on 9 September 2012.



The event will be jointly hosted by the North East and Yorkshire and Humberside regions of Triathlon England in partnership with British Triahtlon on a challenging course near Sunderland.



Young triathletes from each of the Home Nation Associations, including a team from each of the nine regions of Triathlon England, will compete for both individual honours and for the coveted overall title. In 2011, the North East won the overall team event after five individual podium performances secured a dramatic victory over their fellow hosts Yorkshire and Humberside. The East Midlands region came third overall after recording three individual podium positions.



Each of the races will include an open-water wim and a draft-legal bike stage, providing a great racing experience for the Home Nations' talented young athletes.



As in 2011, the event will also be the final event of the 2012 British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series, with an open junior race being added to the event schedule.
