Austrian and German athletes took most of the medals at the first European Cross Triathlon Championships in Strobl am Wolfgangsee, Austria last weekend - although among the age-group races there was some British success.

In the elite women's competition, reigning German champion Kathrin Muller was first past the line in 1:43:18, while Jan Celustka (CZE) took the men's title with a time of 1:30:30.

Home favourite Martin Falch retained his European Cross Triathlon Championship title in the Paratriathlon Tri-5 category, finishing in 1:02:52.

In the age-group races, Britain's Claire Hodgkiss and Natalie Smith won bronze in the 25-29 and 30-34 categories respectively, while Nicholas Farnell took silver in the 55-59 men's category.
