The magnificent grounds of Bowood House in Wiltshire provided a perfect venue for the Event Logic UK’s latest Bowood Triathlon series on Sunday. The closed road event attracted a turnout of well over 300 adult competitors from all over England.

Events Logic UK are keen to contribute to the growing legacy of the 2012 Olympics and the Bowood series also provided the opportunity for over 120 youngsters to compete in a range of tailored Tri Star, Youth and Junior events.

So the scene was set for a glorious day of racing. Adult competitors took on a sprint race, with a 750m lake swim, followed by a 21 kilometre fast closed road bike and a 5 kilometre run to round off the event.

First Male home was Matt Griffin from Trowbridge, Matt was trailing after swim but soon closed in on the bike and run legs, completing his race in 1:07:27. Second place male was Charles Pennington, third was Chris Hine.

First home in the women’s race was Emma Hughs. She set a pace for her swim but had a couple of other competitors on her heels for the bike stage. Emma found some extra energy in the run and accelerated away to take first place in 1:15:21. Second place was Abigail Bagshaw, third was Claire Vallence.

The day also provided an opportunity for many young triathletes to take centre stage; hosting the inter-regional Championships for selection to team South West. Triathletes aged between nine and nineteen years took on lake swims, ranging from two to four hundred metres. Then they set out for the closed road bike race with distances from 3-12km and rounded off their events with a run section, ranging from just over a kilometre, up to two and a half kilometres for the oldest participants.

Event Logic UK’s next event will be a three quarters triathlon and aqua bike event at ELUK’s own lake, set in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold water park on July 14th. More at www.eventslogicuk.com
