Boardman Bikes has announced the sponsorship of the Australian professional triathlete, Pete Jacobs. Boardman Bikes will support Jacobs for 2011 and 2012 with the aim of committing to a long-term relationship with the promising long course triathlete.

The Australian joins the likes of World and National Champion ITU short course athletes including the Brownlee brothers and Hollie Avil as Boardman sponsored triathletes. Boardman also sponsors the US registered UCI Pro Continental UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling team.

“Here at Boardman, we recognise the importance of having our bikes used by the best athletes in the world, raising global brand awareness and increasing our profile. We have a history of supporting incredible talent and we’re really excited by the relationship we are forming with Pete Jacobs – a true world-class athlete, incredible talent and world championship contender.” Says Alan Ingarfield, CEO Boardman Bikes

29-year-old Pete Jacobs is a leading Triathlete on the world stage with two top 10 results at the Ironman World Championships (2009, 2010) and holds one of the fastest run splits in the history of the race. He was the 2009 Australian Long Course

Champion, finishing runner up in 2010 to 2 x Ironman World Champion Craig Alexander and won the Ironman 70.3 Philippines in 2010.

Jacobs said “At the start of 2011 I was asking myself a few questions. I can comfortably swim at the front, I was the fastest runner in 2010, and even without a 4-minute blocking penalty I still would have lost too much time on the bike to win. What will it take to win Hawaii this year? How can I improve my bike leg?

"The answer came to me in an email from Boardman, because they were asking the same questions about me.” Pete went on to say “To be working with a company that believes I can win Hawaii and want to do everything they can to help me get there, alone that would be enough. But it's Boardman! The bike is designed by an Olympic gold medalist and triple World Champion in Chris Boardman.”

In 2011, Jacobs will be training and racing on Boardman’s leading edge AiR (Aerodynamic Racing) road and Time Trial / Triathlon bikes fitted out with SRAM groupsets and Zipp wheels. See the bikes at www.boardmanbikes.com.
