With Tri Liverpool just one month away, the world’s top-ranked female triathlete Gwen Jorgensen (USA) has confirmed she will be competing at the race, host of this year’s British Triathlon Championships.

“I’ve heard that it’s a beautiful city and that the event has a really fast and exciting course,” said Jorgensen, currently riding high in the ITU rankings after winning this year’s WTS races in Yokohama, London and Chicago. “It comes at a great time in my training cycle and I’m really looking forward to racing hard and taking the momentum into the ITU World Triathlon Series race in Edmonton later on in August.”

Other elite athletes racing this year include Australia’s Brendan Sexton, who won last year’s Tri Liverpool, and current U23 Triathlon European Champion Gordon Benson, whose top WTS result so far this year was 16th at WTS London last May.

More than 2,000 triathletes are expected to race on 10 August, starting with a swim in the Wapping Docks, bike past the iconic Liver Buildings and run along the Albert Docks before collecting their medal outside the Echo Arena. There are a limited amount of sprint, Olympic and team Relay entries still available, from www.TriLiverpool.com.
