British Triathlon has announced that Age Group registration for the 2010 Budapest ITU Triathlon Age Group World Championships is now open on www.britishtriathlon.org.

There will be Sprint and Standard Distance Age Group races taking place across the weekend of 11 and 12 September.

All British Age Group athletes will have three opportunities to qualify with 20 qualification places available per Age Group and category. There are four places available at each of the below qualification events:

Sprint Distance

· Grendon Sprint Triathlon - 9 May 2010

· Big Cow Sprint - 6 June 2010

· Rother Valley Triathlon Festival – 13 June 2010

Standard Distance

· Little Beaver Triathlon – 29 May 2010

· Dambuster Triathlon – 19 June 2010

· Tri UK Shropshire Triathlon – 27 June 2010

At last year’s Gold Coast ITU Triathlon Age Group World Championships the British Age Group team claimed 18 medals across both disciplines, including four gold, six silver and eight bronze. This year, British Triathlon wants to continue the Age Group success and send another strong team to the Championships.

All athletes who wish to compete in the Age Group race must first join their Home Nation Association (triathlonscotland, Triathlon England or Welsh Triathlon) through the British Triathlon website, www.britishtriathlon.org.

Once joined, athletes have until 5pm on Friday 25 June (Standard Distance), and 5pm on 11 June (Sprint Distance) to register for the team; this includes athletes applying for pre-qualification and discretionary places.

The Age Group qualification criteria is available on www.britishtriathlon.org/age.
