Nottingham’s Outlaw Triathlon is now open for 2011 entries. The second running of the overwhelmingly popular long distance event will take place on 24 July, 2011 at Holme Pierrepont National Water Sports Centre.

Over seven hundred athletes conquered the first Outlaw Triathlon, having completed a 2.4mile swim, 112mile bike ride and 26.2mile run. Paul Hawkins and Joanna Swallow were the men’s and women’s winners in impressive times, and there were plenty of long distance personal bests achieved across all age groups.

The 2.4mile swim takes place in the regatta lake at the National Water Sports Centre. A single out and back course makes the swim easy to navigate and fast. With the transition immediately next to the swim exit you’ll have every opportunity to set a super-quick time and even faster escape onto your bike.

The bike course features an out and back route and two loops around some of Nottinghamshire’s finest countryside. It’s an undulating course with a couple of short stinging climbs. It’s an ideal course for aero-fans to get their heads down and keep the pedals turning throughout the 112miles. Nottinghamshire is not hilly, but don’t underestimate this course, especially on a windy day!

The bike route is in place and is now in the final stages of being confirmed by the relevant authorities. It has been changed from the 2010 route but covers very similar terrain. It will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The UK Athletics measured run course takes place around the lake and on to the River Trent path to Trent Bridge and County Hall. The multi-lap course means there’s a feed station every few miles and the course is lined with supporters.

Entries are priced at £205 for an individual and £250 for a relay team, with an option to make a £5 donation to the British Heart Foundation the official event charity.

We will once again be organising a support event which will take place on Saturday 23 July, we will be confirming what this will be in the coming months. We’re also delighted to confirm that Speedo will again be a principle partner along with TFN, High5, The Triathlon Coach and Triathlon Specific.
