Jaybird Vista running wireless earbuds reviewed

A confession: earbuds can become stressful. Yes, they’re highly practical. I mean, wires and their tangling tendencies are positively medieval in comparison. But one of their main sells – size (or lack of) – means they’re easily lost. So be careful – or go for the Vistas, which come with a charging/storage case that’s portable and safe. That case also carries 10hrs of charge, which automatically charges the buds when in situ, on top of Vista’s 6hrs per earbud. Impressive stuff.

As is the sound quality, which you can personalise if you download the Vista app and play with the EQ settings. We did but needlessly as the factory-format settings were fine. You can also Bluetooth connect to the app to tap into your music, which can sync with – or connect straight to – a Spotify account. As Jaybird concede, these are primarily for running over biking. That’s a safety issue but it could also be due to waving goodbye to your Vistas if they fall out at speed, and they fell out twice during our testing. To that end, Jaybird provide different-size eargels for a personalised fit. It’s all good, though a flaw with earbuds – unlike our cheap but impressive Mpow Flame wireless headphones – is that you can’t change volume at the buds.
