Review: Brooks Transcend trainers

Aside from the eye-popping colour options, the first thing you notice on wearing the new Transcend is its plushness.

Brooks have put fabric choice and comfort high on the priority list with this trainer, making it the polar opposite to the pared-back shoes that have flooded the market in recent years.

What’s really interesting though is the technology within. Guide rails around each shoe aim to ‘tip’ you back into a better running position – but without too much correction – allowing your body to move in a more ‘natural’ way.

Admittedly, this doesn’t make for the lightest run shoe and the toe box feels a little narrow, but on the road they feel springy and not at all bulky.

If you’re attached to your racing flats they may not be for you – but for many who’ve tried and discarded countless stability shoes (and don’t mind the high price tag) they could be just the job.
