Review: Adidas Adistar Primeknit running top

The only running top we've tested recently that isn’t total polyester… and don’t you notice it. Or not, actually. It’s just so damn cosy, it’s almost imperceptible.

Thankfully, in those rare moments you’re aware of the Primeknit Tee – our regular jaunts up a 2km hill on the outskirts of Bristol – it’s so comfortable that it feels like you’re being cradled by duck feathers.

That tactile fit’s down to Adidas’ trademark Formotion cut, which purports to move with the motion of your body. We’ve tested shorts and jackets in the past that have featured this manufacturing process and, by tapering neatly to the contours of your torso, it really works.

Breathability’s good and, thankfully, pongs remain absent, no matter how intense the session. Reflective details add a modicum of safety in the dark and all in all, this is one class top. Only caveat: that wool composition means we’d recommend handwashing or, at the very least, 30°C and a very low spin.
