Review: 2XU Compression Performance running socks

The advantage of testing these socks in the winter is that the lurid yellow and green colour scheme is mercifully hidden beneath tights. Fortunately, if that combination doesn’t appeal, there are nine other options to choose from. More importantly, their performance more than makes up for their aesthetics.

With their comprehensive sizing guide based on calf girth, the resultant fit is excellent. The compressive and supportive feel when running is superb, with the seamless compression panels exerting pressure with no tight spots.

One of the disadvantages of many compression socks as opposed to calf guards is the actual sock element, but this isn’t the case with these 2XU offerings. The padding is ample but not overly bulky around the heels and toes, and they breathe and wick efficiently.

With some extremely wet, muddy and gritty off-road miles logged, they also showed no signs of early wear or losing their compressive qualities post-wash.
