Tag Heuer Squadra

Top-end Swiss brand Tag Heuer label the Squadra as ‘avant-garde eyewear’ and the look is certainly cool, contemporary and minimalist. From the frameless one-piece lens to the flexible arms, they ooze quality.

They’re incredibly lightweight but probably not as light as your wallet will be after buying them. Sure, you get a hard case and a cleaning cloth, but no matter how cool and stylish they are, it’s pretty obvious a fair chunk of the price is paying for the name. That’s not to say they don’t perform. Through all our tests, the Squadras were one of the top performers.

They never slipped or bounced, didn’t steam up and, without any frame, there was no field-of-vision obstruction. In short, you hardly knew you were wearing them. But along with the price, their fatal shortcoming is that you can’t change the lens. In the UK, light-enhancing and clear lenses are an absolute essential.
