Review: Torq Recovery cookies & cream drink

Torq’s Recovery drink provides a blend of carbs and protein in a 3:1 ratio and is designed to repair and refuel muscles after heavy exercise.

The carbohydrate consists of a mix of glucose polymers and fructose, while the protein is supplied mainly by (inexpensive) skimmed milk powder with some added whey protein. Other added nutrients include glutamine and ribose, which Torq claims aids recovery, as well as vitamins and minerals.

Mixing as directed (1 level scoop per 100mls of water) was easy and resulted in a pleasant and authentic ‘cookie’ flavour, with a light consistency and smooth texture. The downside is price. A 500g tub provides just four servings for a 65–80kg triathlete – that’s five quid per drink!
