Newton will always have credit in the bank for leading the fore/midfoot revolution.
While the major players focused on cushioning, Newton added their trademark midfoot lugs to encourage a biomechanically more efficient technique.
The Gravity is their neutral-performance shoe, designed not only for longer runs but occasional speedwork.
And you can see why. They’re pretty light (295g) and have just a 3mm heel-to-toe drop – not surprising as a wealth of heel cushioning would defeat the object.
Speed, fit and comfort are impressive, and Newton don’t over-engineer things (on the upper anyway).
That said, users have commented on a relatively narrow toe box, something to be aware of if buying online.
Those lugs will forever be divisive, but if you do head down the midfoot path, Newton’s website features a useful section on making the transition and reducing the chances of injury.
