Crank Brothers M19 bike multitool review

The M stands for multi and the 19 refers to the number of tools squeezed into this 89 x 46mm unit.

You get a chain tool; 8mm and 10mm wrenches; T25 and T10 Torx keys; 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8mm Allen keys; a flathead and two Philips screwdrivers; and four sizes of spoke keys.

It’s a good collection of tools in a bundle that’s small enough for a pocket but big enough to provide leverage for undoing tight bolts.

It weighs 174g – respectable given the number of tools – and comes with a 39g steel carry case that resembles a miniature version of Spock’s coffin from The Wrath of Khan.

More and more multitools now come with holders of some kind and they’re usually superfluous. This one isn’t (whether you like Star Trek or not), although it’s a tight fit in that tiny casket – but that’s the only gripe in what is otherwise a classy piece of kit.

Verdict: A smart set of tools, and the casket prevents rusting, 89%
