Review: Lazer Genesis bike helmet

With the launch of the top-end Z1, the Genesis is now fourth tier in Lazer’s road range.

Weighing in at just south of 300g makes it one of the heavier road bike helmets we’ve tested recently, but it does feature Lazer’s Rollsys retention system that symmetrically tightens the helmet around the head, as opposed to simply pushing from the back.

It also has the ratchet on the crown of the helmet, which makes it really easy to access and adjust. Ventilation is good, its overall look is pretty mean and there’s a fluoro version too, which we’re big fans of.

You can also get Lazer’s aeroshell as an extra for £14.99, which doubles up as an excellent rain cover when the weather turns bad. Other than a few grams, there isn’t too much difference between the Genesis and its pricier sibling the Helium, so this is a really good buy.
