Review: Catlike Chrono Aero helmet

A little heavy, but overall a solid long-tailed TT bike helmet with good venting and lots of aero R&D effort

Review: Catlike Chrono Aero helmet

With only the very tip of the tail docked, this helmet isn’t for you if you’re a head dropper. But Catlike are keen to highlight the wind tunnel development they’ve put into it and, with time-trial aces Alex Dowsett and Adriano Malori on the Catlike-supplied Movistar Team, it’s helped to deliver some speedy rides.

At 458g for a medium/large, it's quite heavy, but that’s slightly forgiven by the fact that the dial adjustment system and removable pads do give a comfy fit. The visor is secured by tabs with magnets, which make it a tad fiddly to attach in transition, but you can easily get the helmet on and off with it in place.

The three holes on the visor also do a good job of keeping fogging at bay. The single front vent is a whopper, so while we’ll have to trust Catlike about its aero efficiency it certainly delivers a cooling blast of air.
