With separate lamp and battery packs the One23 pumps out an impressive 1600 lumens at max power, so for under £140 this light delivers plenty of power for your pounds. The beam has excellent penetration, a wide and even flood, and no obvious delineation between spot and flood.
Despite not having side visibility, burn time at full power is an impressive four hours (and, mostly, you’ll only need the lower settings). The large button doubles as a charge indicator and is easy to use with gloves.
Recharging is straightforward with the supplied charger, while fitting is simple and tool-free. You can also run the lamp on a supplied helmet mount. The battery pack weighs in at 519g, but does genuinely allow you to ride as if it were day.
