“Most women cannot afford the time to attend triathlon training camps, so we turned the idea on its head with virtual training camps that offer current training theories whenever and wherever you make time for them,” says Melanie Mitchell, founder of Denver-based Poppy Sports.
Poppy Sports Training offers seven complete online video modules that address the challenges that can prevent busy women from getting to the starting line. It begins with goal setting and continues through building a support network, mental preparation, nutrition needs, injury management, gear essentials and race-day preparation.
The plan is customised for women who have completed sprint and Olympic distance races and want to upgrade to a half Ironman, an attainable and challenging goal that a growing number of women in their 30s and 40s aspire to accomplish.
