Schedule for 2016 British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series confirmed
There are six events in the 2016 Youth and Junior Super Series, with each of the home nations hosting at least one round
Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds is one of the six events hosting the Youth and Junior Super Series, giving young athletes the chance to race on the same stage as the world’s best.
The six events are as following;
3 April – Windsor Duathlon, British Youth and Junior Duathlon Championships, Windsor Great Park
14 May – Sospan Sprint Triathlon, Llanelli
11 June – Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds – British Youth and Junior Aquathlon Championships, Leeds
9 July – Lidl BananaMan Triathlon, Eton Dorney
14 August – Tri Liverpool, British Youth and Junior Triathlon Championships, Liverpool
4 September – British Triathlon U20’s Festival, Strathclyde Country Park
More than 300 young triathletes will be competing in the series. An athlete’s Series ranking position will be calculated using the three best scores added together (one score of which must come from a triathlon). The winner of the British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series will be the athlete with the highest overall score.
“This year’s British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series has a great mix of events that will provide some exciting racing for Britain’s most talented young triathletes,” said Jon Ridgeon, Director for Major and National Events at British Triathlon.
“The Series has grown in popularity over the past few years and we are looking forward to a schedule that hosts some new races in 2016.”
Brendan Purcell, Performance Director at British Triathlon said: “The British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series is a key part of British Triathlon’s strategy to develop the world-class triathletes of the future, with a number of triathletes on the UK Sport funded World-Class Performance Programme having competed in the Series in the past."
