Hamish Shaw and Lucy Scott triumph on beautiful day for pool-based sprint race

Around 500 triathletes enjoyed near-perfect race conditions on a beautiful later summer’s day at the third South Manchester Triathlon last weekend, with Hamish Shaw and Lucy Scott winning the pool-based sprint distance race.

Based at the Wilmslow Leisure Centre, the 400m swim took place in the indoor pool whilst the bike leg covered a distance of 24.2km around the sunny town of Wilmslow and the scenic roads through Ashley and Mobberley. The race finished with a mostly flat 6.2km run along Wilmslow’s quiet, leafy roads taking in views of the River Bollin.

This was my first sprint distance tri after doing a couple of super sprints earlier in the season. Absolutely brilliant event and the feeling when I crossed the line made the agony of the post cycle jelly legs worthwhile!
