Dame Kelly Holmes racing Powerman UK this May

Two-time Olympic gold medallist vows to race a duathlon every month in 2014

Dame Kelly Holmes has picked the Powerman UK duathlon in Sherborne, Dorset this May for her next multisport challenge, as part of her quest to take part in a duathlon every month this year.

The two-time Olympic gold medallist, 43, will be taking part in the sprint event (5km run, 30km bike, 5km run) on 11th May, which starts in the centre of town and passes the eighth-century Sherborne Abbey before sending competitors on a picturesque bike loop through the Dorset countryside then back into Sherborne.

"I'm looking forward to taking part in Powerman UK for the first time this year," she said. "My goal is to enter a duathlon every month to raise money for the DKH Legacy Trust, which I set up on the eve of the Beijing Olympics. It's a cause I hold close to my heart and I think it's important we take an active stand and support the younger generation."

Her first ever duathlon was the Windsor and Eton Winter Sprint Duathlon last January, where a puncture meant she posted a DNF. She followed up with age-group wins at both February's Windsor and Eton Winter Sprint Duathlon as well as last weekend's Portsmouth Duathlon.
