Bastion route revealed

'Hardest long course in the UK', say organisers

The route for next year's Bastion long course race has been revealed, with just under 3,000m of vertical ascent on the bike leg among the treats in store at Hever Castle next July.

Asked for comparison with the Ironman UK route, race director Brian Adcock told us recently: "We reckon it's the hardest one in the UK. It's definitely going to be right up there."

The race will start with two loops of the 1.9km swim course used by Gauntlet competitors for the first time this year, before sending racers on a 60km bike out of Hever Castle, through Ashdown Forest and into nearby villages.

Finally the 10.5km run route, completed four times by the competitors, is mainly off-road trail running and circumnavigates the two estates of Hever and Chiddingstone Castle.

The full route can be seen on the event website here.
