Another advocate for kicking hard in the last 100m or so of the swim, to get the blood circulating in the legs.

Same goes with spinning the pedals in an easy gear heading into T2 see conversation

Watch this,, and should be useful.

It's hilly, but only in the second half of the loop, the first half it's aero bars all the way see conversation

Challenge Almere (Amsterdam) had just been released. Lake swim, pan flat bike and run, but it'll be a day fighting the wind. Would appeal to some, but no me, Wimbleball and Tenby for me this year, and Challenge Vitoria. see conversation

Congrats, a title no one can take away from you.

After finishing in 2011, I volunteered on the swim, bike and the run, awesome to watch, and I'll be back to do it in 2013. see conversation

Jellyfish, hundreds of them at the Long Course swim in Tenby last year. Big buggers down below, and lots of little pesky ones on the surface. Got stung across the face, stung a bit, but with another 30 minutes in cold salty water, it didn't sting too much. Not much else you could do though but swim through them see conversation

Another one for the Adamo, good for up to 8 1/2 hours so far, haven't tested it for any longer. They are Marmite though, so get a test drive first. see conversation

You are right, although the Prep period doesn't last 4 weeks, it just gets repeated until you are ready to step up into Base, the idea is it's getting to ready to train, and you can repeat as many times as you need to in the off season.

Each period is generally four weeks long, three weeks following the top half of the page, and then one week rest/test doing the second half of the page.

It does get progressive as time goes on, as as you read the introduction to each period you'll see that the intensity and focus of each period changes as well.

Being an older athlete, I worked on a three week cycle, two weeks training, and then one week rest/test, which meant I had to repeat certain periods, but it all worked out fine in the end, and came away from Tenby with a two hour PB. see conversation

Yep, really can recommend this book. It assumes you have some experience beforehand, so not really intend for first timers, but has plans for all four distances, sprint, olympic, half and full ironman. Nothing too technical, everything broken down into structured periods, and lots of background info on what you need to be thinking about and doing around training. Works well when read with the Training Bible for even more info see conversation
