Hi All,

Poor amateur with 10 years tri under my belt including two half ironman races. Looking to travel to do my first full ironman in 2017. Looking for cool course and satisfy family needs like sunshine and space to hang out on the day with my young sons being looked after by my wife.

Any suggestions most welcome and thank you.

Hi All,

Have 250 to spend on a new wet suit. Haven't bought one since 07. Any thoughts or advice would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Hello All. Long time since I last posted. When I was posting a few years I found this Forum to be the most helpful. I am a poor Amateur but have set myself some interesting events in 2016. I am looking for a great on-line coach with reasonable pricing who can cover the disciplines and help me prepare for my year. Any thoughts would be most welcome. Thank you.

I'm looking for a half distance (70.3) to complete in the mid to late 2013 (July onwards) season (have previously completed Wimbleball and don't want to do it again). I live in London but am prepared to travel. Has anyone any ideas for UK or maybe even France, Belgium or Spain? Thanks for any advice and help in advance. see conversation

How bitterly disappointed was I to be turned away from the Windsor Triathlon a couple of weekends ago because I mis-read the rules and hadn't racked my bike the day before. I hear you, I hear you, yes I am an idiot, and I've been enjoying Tri in my amateurish way for over 10 years now and should know better. I should have read the regulations but I hadn't.

I am not able to race that often these days. Work and kids have taken priority but the couple of times I manage to get out during the course of a summer are fantastic. I'd not raced Windsor before and was so looking forward to it. After a full day of family activity on the Saturday which included 50 members of the family for bbq (still clearing up at 11pm, not the bet prep), I got up at 4 am to get to Windsor early to rack my back. The race director was completely unforgiving. Surely you make rules, knowing that a few will legitimately mess up. I pleaded calmly but persistently and guess what, the race director started to tell all of her colleagues that I was making trouble. I was mortified, at not being able to race and at the rudeness of the race director. I was told in a snobbish voice that "this wasn't some Tri set up in a field". Granted I realise that but really...Whatever happened to Triathlon being the friendliest and most welcoming sport in the UK.

Not impressed. For a few hours I fell out of love with Triathlon but it didn't last. I drove home and raced the same distance on my own using my local pool just in order to calm myself down. Thanks for nothing race director, I won't forget your unhelpful, unwelcoming attitude. see conversation

Hi All, I entered myself into the Dextrose Olympic Distance ?Hyde Park Course on the 6th July. I am now unable to race. I'm told that I can sell my entrance on, but whoever buys the ticket will need to race as me. It cost 80.50 GBP including BTF license for the day. If any body would like to take my place please email me on lastlight@btinternet.com. Thank you.Triad see conversation

happytribunny's comments have made me feel awfully guilty as I enjoyed some red wine at Twickenham on Saturday as England got thrashed by South Africa, which only served well for me to drink more wine :).

Generally I swing from feeling guilty about touching a drop to saying 'what the hell' if I fancy a pint. I only get really annoyed with myself if a beer has prevented me from actually training. That gets my Triahtlon career nowhere. So once and a while I think, go ahead ahead and have a pint if you want one.

But a healthy dose of guilt generally manages to keep me off unecessary excess. see conversation
