Hi Beef,

Not done that one but sure you will be fine. The Cotswold Tri in September is a great one, nice swim and the bike has no real hills and the run is flat as it goes round the lake. http://www.triferris.com

I'm off at 2:40 on Sunday and looking forward to my 4th year at London and the first where I'm looking for a time and not just to finish!! We are there for the whole weekend to cheer everyone on although can't promise to see the first waves off! see conversation

Had a helmet check at an MK tri a couple of weekends ago, it was all very friendly and they were looking for the condition (cracks etc) and age. Even if you had an old one that needed changing I was told by the chap carrying out the checks that it would a case of advising you get a new one and not "you can't ride".

I have not met anyone in Triathlon yet who is there to spoil anyones day.

Great answer above, all I would add is transition is huge and it can look a lot different in there when you are racing on Sunday as many of the bikes you will see on the Saturday have gone. There are letters (or numbers) painted on the walls of the Excel that make good markers for finding your bike after the swim.

Have a great day, don't lap me!! see conversation

I just moved up to the 2XU V1 which is awesome, but over the £200 you are looking at. However I'd say look at the 2XU range because of the customer service I've had from Mike Trees. 2nd time in it and being a numpty I slid into a lake on my bum I snagged my new suit on some wire. Mentioned it to Mike at an MK tri and he fixed it up for me (I didn't even know wetsuit glue existed).

Everyone I have met in at 2XU suit of any kind always seems more than happy with them. Mine keeps me in a straight line which knocks minutes off my times and is so easy to get on and off - no more hopping around in transition! see conversation

Not sure if it is allowable but could someone rack for you? I can't remember from last year at what point you had to show your license but that might be an option if you have any club members going down anyway.

I go off later on Sunday afternoon so can't decide whether to do the 3 hours each way two days in a row or take down the camper van. Either way will spend all day Saturday window shopping around the trade stands and seeing what the wife will let me buy, I fancy an Endless Pool! see conversation

I go with black and green, helps me sneak past the crowds without them seeing how slow I am going. That only works in the countryside though so may have to invest in grey for London! see conversation
