I have emailed them twice about mine but not even received a reply yet. However, they still send through all other offers etc. Very frustrating!

A fellow geordie! I live in the Tyne Valley and am a member of One Life Racing, based in Alnwick. Our lot train in the pool on a Friday evening which is not possible for me so I too am looking for an alternative coaching arrangement.
I spoke to someone yesterday who mentioned the NE31 Tri club and they train on Thursday's at Hebburn. Non club members welcome apparently. You will find their details on northernpulse.co.uk
Also, try to get in touch with Bob Hogg, coach with Ryton tri club. he does sessions in Stanley on a Monday night and other sessions elsewhere.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. Funnily enough, someone at runnimg club last night suggested the same thing so I will look into that.

let me know how you get on. My swimming is also not brilliant and I need to gt to grips with some proper trainng rather than just ploughing up and down the pool each time. I would be really interested to know how you progress.

I'm not sure he does but it is a good question. He also does our running coaching on tuesdays so i will ask him tomorrow night. There are 3 coaches in total in the club, perhaps one of them would do some private work.
I am just nervous that they will write me off as a lost cause after yestersay's fiasco! At the least the run went well, so I at least made up for it to a certain extent.
Thanks for the link. I will check that out

Did an Aquathlon yestersay (400m swim followed by 5K run) Just a club thing but it highlighted to me just how poor my swimming is. I really thought it had improved but in a competition environment, with spectators, pre-race briefings etc I got very nerveos and as a result, my technique and breathing went horribly wrong. The thing is, I can not attend our club swim coaching on a Fri evening due to family reasons so I am therefore training and developing by myself. Is there a register of UK swim coaches so I can look one up in my region (North East)? I need help urgently!

Not much of a post this but I am feeling sorry for myself. I had a vasectomy last week and am still in agony even now! I have been told that I got back into training too quickly, running, swimming etc and that I need to take a rest. Not much fun this. I know it is not exactly major surgery but at least the lads out there will be able to sympathise! I hope so anyway. Think of me while you are all running, biking, swimming etc...

I do spinning classes 2-3 times per week during the evenings, usually 45 minutes in duration. Fantastic workout and great for the legs. They are stationary bikes and the class starts with warm-up with resistance on the bikes being increased gradually throughout the session. You usually ride in different positions, doing some standing hill work, 4up 4 down jumping and various exercises. It is not a substitute for actually being on the bike but a great alternative at this time of year.
In the latest edition of 220 they gave it 8/10 for bike related training. Give it a go. You simply need your usual gym clothes and trainers.
Hope this helps.

If I were you, I would try a few products out during training and see if you have any undesirable effects. Don't experiment during the actual event. I have been using some of the High 5 products during and after my longer sessions, mainly drinks mixes. Have also tried a gel or 2 but they take some getting used to and are an acquired taste

Where are you folks entering these events. I can't find many listings yet and am worried about missing out on entry opportunities. Are events listed anywhere other than the BTA website?
