Can anyone out there recommend a protein supplement for someone who is whey intolerant? The hemp alternative is no use as it tastes disgusting and is very difficult to dissolve. Any advice is gratefully received.

Sounds like a good plan hussler - but what do you do mid race? Jon E will try the peppermint tea, have already given caffeine and really miss my daily latte! Ah well the price we pay for our sport.
Aiming for a long run this weekend now snow has gone, wish me luck!!!

I using Northwave Vertigo Pro SBS. If i tell you I have had 8 surgeries on the right foot and one on the left and I have a difference of 2.5 sizes between feet you begin to get the picture of why comfort rates so highly. I also have to buy male version as one foot is excessively wide!!!! Can someone exlain to me why I am even doing this sport? Sounds like I should be in some kind of circus alongside the bearded lady huh?!!
Still, I hold to my motto - 'think like a bumble bee' its worked so far!

Thanks Ris, thats very helpful I will invest in a set, Britspin whilst I agree with regards the shoes cos I have huge difficulty buying comfy shoes I opted for an identical second pair to the ones I know are ok (on the basis the said cleats would fit) so would much rather find a way of adapting them. Wish we had spin bikes like yours but ours are only spd.

Ive bought a couple SAD lights - and it really helps. I have one on my desk all day and one which wakes me up gradually like a bright summers day in the middle of July (ok poetic license I know). They emit light of a wavelength equivalent to bright daylight which stimulates the old pineal gland and makes me feel happy!!
Still dont always want to train tho! think thats the Its-cold-and-i'd rather-stay-at-home-watching-coronation-street-gene kicking in

Hmmm Im having the same issue,
bought second pair of cycle road shoes so I could attach the right cleats for spinning and not have to faff around changing cleats/pedals each time, only to find I have 3 holes in my shoes and the spd cleats which I ordered at the same time (and was assured would fit the shoes) had 2! Contacted shop spoke to a very nice young man who assured me once again it was possible to get spd cleats with 3 hole attachments. Is he yanking my chain? Am I going to have to invest in another pair of shoes?

Whats the fast/feed diet? I tend to run in the evenings during the week - about 6pm ish, and in the morning at weekends - about 11 ish. It is better running in the morning but cant do that in the week cos it would mean running at about 6am and my body just cant cope!

Dont want to worry you but pink bikes seem to end up in the bath with the front wheel off!

Thanks Jakester and Conehead - its reassuring to know (1) im not the only one and (2) there is a solution. I have been on a low fibre diet for a while on the advice of a gasterenterologist and have given up caffeine
(missing those daily lattes - the things we do for our sport!) but there are some things you suggest I havent tried. Conehead I will PM you as you suggest.

Am very jealous by this - did the NY tri in 2009 and have set my sights on Alcatraz for 2011 - couldnt persuade hubby (who is a chief-bag-carrier-and-supporter when I am competing), to do 2 major overseas events in 2 years as its his holiday too! Compromised on an event every other year. Would love to hear how you get on - funny how when I mention it to anyone the first thing they ask about is the sharks!
