Alternatively, you treat yourself to a new bike over there and only pay the shipping costs one way!!!!!!! see conversation

If your main race is the marathon, then I'd keep up the training, and maybe just ease off a couple of days beforehand. Dont go all out on the OD and do the run at your marathon pace to keep in with your training. Basically use the OD as part of your training. see conversation

I emailed them a few weeks ago. I think they are based near Alton which is down past Guildford. They said I could go and view and possibly test ride a bike. They look good. Might be worth going if you're near. As willieverfinish says tho, try and go for a carbon frame if you can afford it. see conversation

I was in the same boat as you. I wanted to do an IM branded event. Also, I dismissed IMUK due to the fact that I want a memorable experience. I figure that if I'm going to go through hell for that amount of time, then I want great support and a good climate and scenery. Unfortunately, Bolton didn't inspire me. I have now opted for IM France next year. The weather should be good and the setting is supposed to be fantastic. The bike is supposed to be bloody hard due to all the climbing but hey, thats what IM is about. Its not supposed to be easy. I can understand those people that say that we should support the IMUK race, but to be honest, it convinced the other half to let me do it. A two week holiday in Nice beat a week in Bolton hands down!!! see conversation

Not sure about back roads around Kingston/New Malden etc, but once you get to Sutton region you should be able to cut across to Banstead/Woodmansterne and pick up the London to Brighton route. The roads are pretty good and its a nice run from the Woodmansterne area. Some good hills thrown in as well. see conversation

Been away from the forum for a while due to injury. This caused me to lose interest in training, etc. Then went to the Steelman Oly race at Eton on Sunday (entered ages ago). Finished in 2.43 and now am raring to go again.

Having not read the forum for a while, what is this BCTTT? Had a quick look through the older threads and it seems to be the forming of a club!!! Any more info? see conversation

Not sure about Conehead, but heard he dropped out at last minute due to injury. Myself and J27rt, plus the other 6 riders, finished the first run in 3.04. We were then ferried back to the start at Clapham and completed the second run in 3.50. Like others have mentioned, we found we were standing and queueing due to congestion at hills and also junctions (on the 2nd run). Another point had us waiting, as two ambulances tending to the injured, had caused a bottle neck.

All in all, good ride, shame about the trains not letting bikes on after though. Ended up having to cycle halfway home with a huge bag slung over my shoulder. see conversation
