I would suggest taking your pick from the list of 70.3's on www.ironman.com
Other non ironman branded 70.3 events that I heard were good are the Vitruvian and Quelle Challenge Barcelona.

I fully subscribe to all the words of encouragement above however one small warning. The UK 70.3 event has a fairly tight cut-off time for the swim (1hr) so you have to be inside this to continue. The other cut-off times for the Bike and run aren't so bad so check out these before you enter. Other events may not have any or may be happy to keep the roads closed for longer.

Planning on going to LL on Saturday and then the Wantage Sportive on Sunday..... guess I will have to wait until Monday for a lie in....

Someone told me once that..... you should always start the session and then depending on how you feel either continue as planned - cut it short or just abandon it.
Can't remember the exact process for each though - probably came from Joe Friels training bible if that helps....

Unfortunately the organisers decide for you. Each year they select certain waves so it is just pot luck. Although, normally this route will start early on Sunday so only for those who don't like to lie in...

Also depends on whether you are on the Westminster or Tower Bridge Route. Generally I think Westminster is faster as you only go into the tunnel once although there are some nasty roadworks by Southwark bridge (only on Westminster route) which seem to have dug up the road.

I doubt you will have much luck and if you don't have time to go to tri shop or buy online I would suggest the following.
Likely to be sold at the open water venue or event you are going to anyway. Triathletes are a great bunch and most would be happy to dish some out to you anyway but as a fall back you could nip to Boots for some Vaseline. I know it is not recommended but surely can't hurt once.....

Absolutely - you can also "sell" it to her on the idea that she can track exactly where you have been.
I don't commute that far (14 miles) so generally know the roads anyway so don't use it for that. Remember the function "Avoid Major Roads" as it may take you over the Hammersmith flyover which is not a good idea.... bitter experience

I'm in the "not to shave" camp on the basis that - it is very camp - and have been promised that I will get dumped by my girlfiend if I ever do it. Perhaps I could shave my legs and get a boyfriend at the same time......
However more importantly.... if you are doing IM Lanzarote and this is your biggest problem then good luck to you. Personally I would be more worried about the heat, hills, wind, nutrition, sheer distance etc
