Aquaman has been around since the very beginnings of triathlon in the early 1980s, and holds a substantial share of the wetsuit market in France and the USA. Due to issues around distribution and pricing, they’ve been conspicuously absent from the UK market for a while but are now back for 2011/12 with a new distributor and new suits.
The ART is its joint top-of-the-range offering alongside the GoldCell (aimed at less competent swimmers who benefit from a higher body position). The ART features a stiff body panel with flexible arms and shoulders to increase mobility, yet provides a snug, supportive fit.
The reverse zipper’s easy to use and the SCS coating on the inside of the suit means it peels off extremely quickly in transition. One issue Aquaman might have is that, without the option to try out both suits, athletes may struggle to decide where best to invest their £500 – in the ART or the GoldCell.
