Speedo Fastskin Elite Mirror Goggle review
Comfortable and sleek, these could be Speedo’s best pool goggles to date – though the price tag is high
With the claim that the Fastskin Elite goggles are designed for the ‘world’s top athletes’, Speedo, as part of their existing Fastskin range, have produced a pool design that we think is their best-to-date.
>>> Four of 2015's best pool goggles
Available in green/blue and red/green (we tested the latter), each pair comes with different sized interchangeable nosebridges and a breathable black mesh bag, which is great for storage but doesn’t offer much protection.
In use, the low-profile gaskets were comfortable and felt sleek and streamlined as we moved through the water. For such a compact set, the lenses were still wide enough to offer excellent peripheral vision, while the anti-fog coating provided maximum clarity.
While designed for the pool, they also come with UV protection and anti-glare properties. To adjust, the ‘tensioning scale’ on the strap produced an accurate and personal fit, which stayed leak-free throughout our test period. The £40 price tag is high for a goggle, but, we feel, the performance justifies it.
Verdict: A pricey option for the pool, but well worth the pennies, 85%
