Brooks PureGrit 4 running shoes review

As Sheryl Crow once sang, change can be a good thing but, in the case of the latest incarnation of the PureGrit from Brooks, a case of ‘If it ain’t broke…’ applies.

The PureGrit 3 were an off-road revelation, offering heavy-duty grip, comfort and at a low weight. And the PureGrit 4 retain plenty of what made the 3s so good – the lug-patterned outsole, 4mm drop and toe bumper – and throw in a visual makeover so good you won’t want to get them muddy.

Brooks target these for those with high arches yet our flat feet experienced no troubles, but always try before you buy.

Elsewhere, there’s a slight update to the nav-band that holds your foot in place and the tongue has been made wider to stop any mid-run slippage, which was our only fault with the 3s.

Verdict: A hugely impressive release for a multitude of trail types, 94%
