TomTom Mysports GPS watch

Not perfect, but good value and has the potential to be a real contender

Key information

Our score

The TomTom is a good-looking unit, and with QuickGPSfix satellite acquisition is stunningly good. The unit drops in and out of the strap and non-quick release bike mount, which, although allowing you to switch strap colour and size, seems a recipe for breakage.

Set-up is simple but the data-field customisation is limited, so number crunchers might find it too basic. Performance during running, swimming in the pool (not open water) and cycling is excellent. It’s non-ANT+ compatible so if you want a speed/cadence sensor you’re limited to Bluetooth.

What’s more it doesn’t have any power metrics, and battery life is a non-long-course-friendly 10 hours. Oddly, there’s no one-push multisport function but this could be added in a future firmware upgrade. TomTom Mysports is very basic, but as you can export  workouts in all the major file types you can use it with third-party packages.
