Epson RunSense SF-710 – first look

Printer maker reclaims its GPS heritage with top-end run watch

Best known for their printers, Epson have joined fellow electronics giants TomTom and Pioneer in entering the sports market to break the dominance of Garmin, Polar and co.

The brand has previous form in this space however –they were apparently one of the first to bring GPS to market some 30 years ago.

The SF-710 is their top-end GPS run watch, with its key features including customisable interval, pace and lap training functions.

Elsewhere there are total ascent/descent data and gradient fields, with a key sell being the 30hr battery life. Run data is then transferred to Epson’s online portal and/or Run Connect app.

We’ll be testing Epson in issue 307’s heart-rate monitors grouptest, on sale 9 December. Price: £229 from www.epson.co.uk.
